Hello my lovelies!
I've been hearing a lot about these reversible octopus stuffed animals on Tik Tok from my sisters and I thought they'll be really cool to make. The essential pattern isn't that difficult just make two of everything and sew them together so you can flip it inside out. I have two ways of making the head, way two is a little bit smaller so it looks like he's got big legs. Feel free to choose whichever! So let's get into the pattern.
In order to make our cute little octopus you'll need to know: magic circle, half double crochet, chain, and slip stitch. Hdc means double crochet. Don't forget to slip stitch each circle row closed and chain for each new row.
We'll also need:
Two different yarns
A crochet hook of a matching size
Yarn needle
Let's begin!
(Way One) Making the head (One of each color):
1) Place 8 hdc in a magic circle
2) hdc two stitches in each stitch
3) hdc (2 in 1 and then 1 normally) all the way around
4) hdc (2 in 1 then 2 normally) all the way around
5) hdc all the way around
6) hdc (reduce by joining 2 sitches together then 2 normally) all the way around
7) hdc (reduce by joining 2 stitches together then 1 normally) all the way around
(Way Two) Making the head (1 of each color):
1) Place 8 hdc in a magic circle
2) hdc two stitches in each stitch
3) hdc (2 in 1 and then 1 normally) all the way around
4) hdc all the way around
5) hdc (reduce by joining 2 stitches together then 1 normally) all the way around
(Both ways) Making the legs (8 of each color):
1) chain 5
2-5) hdc starting in the 4th stitch, chain after each row. You should have 3 rows of 4 hdc at the end
6) reduce by combining the stitches into 2 sets of 2
7) Tie off
Joining the two:
1) Insert one of the heads into the other, if you happen to have a pretty and ugly side, put the ugly on the inside with pretty facing out. Sew them together by going around the base.
2) Sew the legs together, opposite colors together, just go around the perimeter. You can stuff the legs or add in some between the heads, I just didn't see the need as they worked out pretty well without.
3) Sew the legs onto the head, have same colors facing up, if head is blue, have blue legs sticking up when you sew them around the head. Evenly space them around the head, I ended up squishing the legs a bit so they puffed up on their own.
4) Draw on cute faces! And there you go! I hope you enjoy my pattern, if you post about it give me credit and send them to my blog. Be sure to share the pattern with your friends!
Bye!
